Personality: Not much is really known about Kurloz Makara, but that’s fine since the main aspect of his personality is shrouded in mystery. He has pretty much focused his life around keeping secrets and not letting people know what he’s up too or who he really is. But then again that also ties into his capricious nature. His ex-matespirit (like a lover), Meulin, brings up this secretive nature along with the fact that he enjoys speaking in riddles. Whenever anyone tries to pry into his life or into his beliefs (unless he’s close to them like Mituna and Meulin) he either responds with a shrug or by giving them the finger. He tends to focus his life around his religion which everyone else tends to treat as ridiculous and stupid. But even with his friends disapproval he continues to be devote, giving his life (And death) over to his beliefs and willing to do anything for his “Angel of Double Death” Lord English, or his “Messiah” Gamzee.

The only two people he clearly seems to have some relationship with are Mituna and Meulin. Mituna is his moirail (Best Friend/Soul Mate/Conscience), and they still seem to be on very friendly terms. Kurloz was the only witness to Mituna’s accident that left him brain damaged after saving the world. Cronus (another friend of theirs) also brings up that around Kurloz, Mituna might even have moments where he’s lucid. Now there are theories that suggest Kurloz might have had more involvement with the accident then at first glance, but this has not been proven. But he doesn’t seem to mind using his powers of persuasion or mind control (To be explained more in the Abilities section) and controlling Meulin to reach his goals, this goal involving the double death of all of his heretic friends.

Back before he died, before he entered the sburb game, back to when he and Meulin where perfect for each other and everything was peaceful and happy, something horrible happened that would have a major impact on Kurloz. This incident happened one night, curled up with his girl, when a horrible nightmare hit him. This nightmare was so terrible he let out a scream that would deafen Meulin forever. As an act of remorse he decided to take a vow of silence. At first he just didn’t talk to anyone, he kept to himself and avoided his friends. But during that time alone he decided it wasn’t enough, and bit off his own tongue as well as sewed his mouth shut. Before this incident he was apparently very talkative, always going on about his religion and such. After the incident he separated from Meulin, although they would continue on as friends, and they would teach themselves sign language to communicate (I will be writing some of these movements out, and it will take the form of ASL and a link to a GIF image). But around everybody else he often times just gives them a “creepy stitched up smile” and communicates with simple motions.

He has an obvious obsession with death, but not just normal death, double death. He doesn’t appear to wear his sign (Capricorn ♑) openly like the other trolls. This would explain his capricious nature. I won’t label him as a bad guy or a good guy yet, more so he does whatever he feels like and he can switch between the two easily. Hussie, the author of the comic, even brings up that Gamzee and Kurloz are probably just helping the bad guy because they think it’s funny. This could be him pretending he doesn’t know anything, or an actual hint behind the motives of these clowns.

Head cannons that effect his personality and interactions would involve his care taker. Trolls are taken care of by a Luses (a guardian animal that chooses them at hatching), and Kurloz’s would be the same as Gamzee’s, this being a sea goat (half goat have sea monster). Knowing the goat dad from Gamzee’s past, he probably wasn’t around much and often abandoned him for long periods of time, so he could have abandonment issues and will seek out the company of others no matter who they are. Another thing involves his title as the “Prince of Rage”. A Prince is an Active class that fights rather than protects, so he may be selfish. It literally means a “destroyer of rage”, so this could mean he doesn’t get angry much, or at all. But it could also be interpreted as “one who destroys via rage” in which case, if he does get angry, get out of the way.

He tends to tag everything with a :o) face and talks in a lighter shade of purple to his blood color. I will be using this hue along with a black background to indicate when he’s using his power of suggestion.

He also types in BONES font but that’s not a normal font, and I haven’t been able to figure out the coding to work it, so this will have to make do.
Abilities/Weaknesses: Kurloz can communicate through telepathy that can be linked to his mind control powers. These powers fall under the category of chuckle voodoo’s and when they’re in use his eyes glow and switch between the colors of violet, fuchsia, and purple. Gamzee, his descendent, is seen using chuckle voodoo’s in order to infect people’s dreams and give them irrational fears. This is why one of my theories believes it’s not complete mind control, but more deep hypnotic persuasion which would explain the eyes.
Physical abilities consist of heightened strength, mass flexibility, heightened speed, and the ability to take a lot of damage. But even with all this, it is still possible for a strong human to take him down.

To accept knowledge and deny the wondrous miracles blessed down upon him from his god’s was a blasphemous action, something he could only repent by ripping out his own eyes. And yet here he was, resting against his skull and horn pile with the cover of a book glaring up at him from where it rested in his lap.

Was he really about to commit this atrocious action? Kurloz had the right mind to just throw the book out into the ocean and wipe his hands of this. But he didn’t, instead he gripped the book, his claws digging into the hard cover.

But then an image appeared before his eyes, of his sweet little kitty bitch looking up at him from behind this accursed item, her eyes sparkling and filled with understanding, but still begging for him to give it a chance. And slowly his grip weakens, purple sweat developing on his brow and fresh stiches tearing into his lips as he grimaces. And when he opens his eyes again, there it was….Information.

His eyes widen as he stares at the page, the index to Troll Sign Language for the Think Pan Inferior. He takes a deep breath and flips to the first chapter, all the while his red feelings for Meulin combating against his religious beliefs.

Well, it wasn’t science at least. All he had to do was think of it like he would learning how to speak, or type, although he’s pretty sure both those abilities was implanted into him when he was a grub. He flipped through a few more pages, looking over the pictures with guilt in his gaze.

But then he ran into a chart, all it showed was a bunch of one handed signs, with letters underneath each sign. He blinked at it, and without realizing what he was doing he started spelling.
